Banana Bread Recipe

The banana bread is a kind of plum banana. It is difficult to establish the original recipe , in fact there are several variations. We offer you a very simple , fast and butter-free one . This American dessert should be served for breakfast, accompanied by butter and jam, or enjoyed on its own.

The original recipe is American and it seems to be found as early as 1930. There is also a National Banana Bread Day on February 23rd.

The recipe that we propose does not contain butter , an ingredient that is included in almost all versions, but oil . Even the ‘ vanilla extract is an ingredient that is frequently found in American recipes, as well as cinnamon . You can therefore add them to your taste.

  • 250 g of brown sugar

  • 130 ml of milk
  • 60 ml of oil
  • 250 g of “00” flour
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda

Prepare the ingredients for your banana bread by starting to slice the bananas and mash them with a fork. Then beat the eggs with the brown sugar with the help of an electric mixer.

Once you get a soft and fluffy mixture, add the bananas and salt.


Continuing to mix, pour in the milk (preferably warm) and oil.


Sift together flour, baking powder and baking soda and add them to the mixture while continuing to mix. Continue working with the whisk for another 10 minutes to obtain a smooth and very soft dough.


Grease an 11 x 25 cm loaf pan with a knob of butter. Pour in the mixture and bake in a preheated oven at 170 ° for 45-50 minutes.


Cool, cut your banana bread into slices and serve with butter, jam, chocolate or cheese.
