Fresh, but with a strong flavor, the Coffee slush – ask the Sicilians – it is always good, but in summer it is even more lovable because it satisfies the desire for a sin of gluttony with all the freshness typical of these spoon desserts. You can consume it at Breakfast, perhaps combined with a brioche with tuppo just like in Sicily, or eat it a snack or after dinner with a dollop of whipped cream.
The coffee granita, even if it is now found in all ice cream parlors, is a specialty of Sicilian pastry. In Sicilian land it is truly an institution. At any time of day, in any cleared square of this wonderful island, you can always find someone eating a granita. Together with that of almond and to that of mulberries, the coffee granita is one of the most typical.
In some bars it is done only with coffee (without syrup as we suggest you do in our recipe) and it has such an intense flavor that it is practically impossible to eat it alone. It then breaks with the almond milk granita or sweeten with a generous spoonful of buttery whipped Cream.

How to prepare: Coffee granita

To make the coffee granita, first prepare a syrup with water and sugar in a saucepan and bring to the limit of the boil. When the sugar has completely dissolved and the liquid has become transparent, add the coffee and stir.

Bring to room temperature then transfer to a low and wide container that can go into the freezer, possibly in contact with the lower wall of the same. Freeze for 4 hours, stirring quickly with a spoon every 30 minutes and incorporating air. Serve the coffee granita in cold glasses with whipped cream to taste.
