French toasts are an American preparation, even if the name might suggest a French origin, and are eaten for breakfast or brunch. According to the original recipe, the slices of brioche bread are dipped in a mixture of eggs and milk, fried and, finally, served with fruit, jam or even Nutella.

The result is amazing and in every country it is prepared differently: in France it is called pain perdu and is served with fruit and sour cream and, in Great Britain, it is also known as eggy bread .
French Toast Step by StepIn a bowl, add the eggs, milk, a pinch of salt and mix with a fork until the mixture is smooth (1).

Slice the brioche bread (2), which you can make at home following our brioche bread recipe , and dip them in the egg mixture on both sides. Melt the butter in a non-stick pan and fry the toasts until golden brown without burning them.

Transfer the French toast to a plate and serve covered with fruit, icing sugar and maple syrup (3).
