We asked Ivan Filippelli, Bar Manager of The Spirit Milano, to prepare the Japanese cocktail recipe, a simple and at the same time particular cocktail. Suitable both as an aperitif and after dinner.
The ingredients are easy to find: brandy or cognac, barley syrup and angostura. Of course we recommend paying attention to the quality for a super drink. As equipment, get a colander and a shaker. As a glass you can use a small cup or a low tumbler. It is a sweet drink with a fresh and spicy note.
It seems that the Japanese cocktail was created legendary Jerry Thomas, said the Professor, father of the art of mixing and author of The Bartender’s Guide, the first book on cocktails in the United States dated 1862.

How to prepare: Japanese cocktail

To prepare the Japanese cocktail, start by pouring the ingredients in succession into a shaker: first the brandy and the barley syrup.

Then add a few drops of angostura. With the help of tongs, cool the contents of the shaker with a few cubes of ice.

Shake vigorously and then filter the contents into a previously cooled cup.

Complete the cocktail with a lemon peel that gives freshness and fragrance to the drink. Serve your Japanese cocktail immediately.
